Philippine Region Newsbrief of January - March 2010

WELCOMING THE NEW YEAR 2010

The Philippine Region welcomed the new year full of hope and joy for the blessings of the Lord. Effective January 1, 2010 the New Manila community has turned to be the Regional House Community with Sr. Irma Caumeran, SDS as coordinator. New assignments also took effect for the sisters in the different communities and apostolate.

THE NEWLY PROFESSED

Sr. Ruth Baguinon, the newly professed sisters is assigned in the Salvatorian Pastoral Care for Children in Cebu as Community Organizer and Sr. Rose Agnes Etong is assigned in Tara, Bolinao as BEC ( Basic Ecclesial Community ) worker and in charge of the youth ministry.

ANNUAL REGIONAL ASSEMBLY

The Salvatorian Sisters gathered together for its annual regional assembly on January 22-24, 2010 at Lebanon Shelter in New Manila. It is always a time where sisters are looking forward to for sharing, learning together and enriched one another. After the three-day encounter, the council has invited Fr. Rene Lagaya, SDB, who came to talked on “ Formation of Conscience” on January 25, 2010. It was indeed a great challenge on how to withstand daily spiritual warfare.

LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

The Regional Council and two Local Coordinators attended the conference on Spirituality and Governance held at Loyola House of Spirituality facilitated by Jesuit Fathers last February 7, 2010.

With the countries situation who is suffering in political anguish for the coming national election, a good number of lay people came to attend the conference.

CONGREGATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

Sr. Irma Caumeran, SDS left for Brazil to represent the Philippine Region for the congregational council meeting held in Curitiba last February 15- March 7, 2010. She returned last March 22, 2010 full of learning experiences, enriched with new knowledge and information on the Salvatorian Worldwide. She came back full of gratitude to the Lord and the congregation for the wonderful encounter and happy to share her Brazil experiences.

BACHELOR’ S DEGREE ON SOCIAL WORK

Sr. Eloisa Holdiem, SDS graduated her four -year studies on Bachelor of Science in Social Work at the University of the Southern Philippines in Cebu last March 27, 2010. Let us continue to pray as she prepares herself for the licensure board examination this coming June 22- 23, 2010.The region is so grateful for the perseverance and determination of Sr. Eloisa as she continues to carry out her challenging ministry as project director of SPCC- Cebu besides her studies.

NEWLY RECRIUT SDS LAY

The lay Salvatorians had taken initiative to plan their own schedule of formation meeting during the year. They agreed during their formation meeting in March 28, 2010 to prioritized an activity and to start an orientation on lay Salvatorians in mission area in Tara, Pangasinan this year 2010.
